Legal

Free, and as is

This game is free to play and free to use. It is provided “as is”, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied.

No liability

Its authors are not liable for any damage, data loss or other problem from using it, including online play, the bots, the website and the servers. You use it at your own risk.

No promise the servers are up

There is no promise that the online servers will be up: they may be slow, down, restarted or shut down at any time, with no notice.

An unofficial fan remake

It is an unofficial fan remake of the 1998 game Ants, not affiliated with or endorsed by the authors or owners of the original game.

The original game’s artwork, animations, sounds, music and maps, and the maps that players made, belong to their copyright holders. This project does not own them and cannot license them. If you hold rights to something here and want it removed, open an issue and it will be taken out.

Discord link

The Discord button in the header is a link only: it opens the project’s Discord invite in a new tab. Nothing is sent to Discord until you click it. The project is not affiliated with Discord.

The chat and logging in with Discord

Anyone can read the chat on the front page. To write in it you log in with Discord, which gives the site two things only: your Discord id and username. They are kept so that the site knows who you are, and for nothing else. The site asks for no email address, no avatar and no list of friends or servers, and it keeps no Discord access token.

Chat lines are kept for 7 days, with the id and username that wrote them, so that moderators can deal with abuse, and are then deleted for good. A ban or a mute is kept by Discord id.

The login sets two cookies, both for logging in and nothing else: __Host-ants_oauth while you are on your way to Discord (10 minutes at most, deleted when you come back) and __Host-ants_hub, a random number that says which login is yours (30 days, deleted when you log out).

Log out in the chat ends the login of this browser. Forget me ends every login of your account, deletes your chat lines that are still kept and removes your username from the site’s records; a ban or a mute, if there is one, stays. Reading the chat and playing need no login. What Discord itself does with your visit is under Discord’s own privacy policy.

Coffee button

The Buy Me a Coffee button is loaded from that company’s server, which sees your address. Nothing else on the front page is.
